INCEPTION
In 2004, FOMWAG organised professional women to work together to improve the lot of the under-served. We got together and agreed to form this Foundation to achieve the set goal. The name Annisaa Foundation was adopted, we elected our first executives and registered at the Registrar General’s Department.
What we do
Education
Education is key to liberating the under privileged and the vulnerable from poverty and social vices. Education would empower our youth to become responsible leaders, serve as role models and contribute towards national development.
Counselling helps broaden the knowledge of our youth and enables them appreciate societal issues in order to make informed choices. Most importantly it goes a long way to minimise the incidence of career mismatch.
Although the number of educated Muslims especially women is rising steadily in Ghana, there is the need to ensure that the trend continues and is sustained. Currently there are very few Muslims especially women occupying key positions. This trend is a result of low output in education of Muslims in the past decades.
Annisaa Foundation helps bridge this gap by empowering and encouraging the youth especially young women to attain higher education. Through modest sponsorship, donations, guidance, counseling and mentoring, we inspire pupils and students to attain higher education in various professional fields. We have showcased the value of education by sharing our personal humble beginnings and challenging paths to success. We hope our endeavours will nurture our youth into responsible citizens who will contribute to national development. Beneficiaries of this programme include the following schools:
- Suhum Islamic Girls’ Senior High School
- Madina Islamic Primary and Junior High School
- Al-Walid Islamic Primary and Junior Secondary School, Ruga
- Nuru Mustafya Islamic School, Ashaiman
- Aburi Girls’ Senior High School
Seminar to ignite a thought-provoking discourse and reflections on the causes, effects and most importantly how to mitigate the occurrence of domestic violence and anger in our homes.
In today’s society where both Men and women are confronted with myriads of challenges that affect our mental and emotional wellbeing without any avenue to vent such frustrations, we may take it out on our immediate families friends and loved ones.
On 25th June, 2022, Annisaa Foundation organised a Seminar to ignite a thought-provoking discourse and reflections on the causes, effects and most importantly how to mitigate the occurrence of domestic violence and anger in our homes. The session facilitated by Dr. Nasiiba Tahir a Clinical Psychologist, and was attended by Moslem women from all walks of life.
We had an interactive session which allowed for peer to peer sharing of ideas and lessons on the subject matter. Below are colourful pictures from the event
