Annisaa Foundation is a non-political, non-sectarian and non-profit organisation registered under the Companies Act of Ghana. The Foundation comprises professional Muslim women and is affiliated to the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations of Ghana (FOMWAG).
INCEPTION
In 2004, FOMWAG organised professional women to work together to improve the lot of the under-served. We got together and agreed to form this Foundation to achieve the set goal. The name Annisaa Foundation was adopted, we elected our first executives and registered at the Registrar General’s Department.
GOAL AND OBJECTIVES
The Foundation was established with the aim of tapping the expertise of professional Muslim women in Ghana to contribute towards improving the status of the less privileged in society, particularly women and children. To achieve this broader goal, the objectives of the Foundation, among others, are to:
- Organise and carry out various programmes for underprivileged Muslims particularly women and children.
- Sensitize members and the general public on Islamic and socio-economic issues.
- liaise with other relevant organisations, both locally and internationally for the achievement of our objectives.
To have a well-structured network of professional Muslim women who will promote socio-economic empowerment in our communities”.
To develop the potentials of young Muslim women through educational, counseling and mentoring programmes.
