Education, Counseling and Mentoring
Education is key to liberating the under privileged and the vulnerable from poverty and social vices. Education would empower our youth to become responsible leaders, serve as role models and contribute towards national development.
Counselling helps broaden the knowledge of our youth and enables them appreciate societal issues in order to make informed choices. Most importantly it goes a long way to minimise the incidence of career mismatch.
Although the number of educated Muslims especially women is rising steadily in Ghana, there is the need to ensure that the trend continues and is sustained. Currently there are very few Muslims especially women occupying key positions. This trend is a result of low output in education of Muslims in the past decades.
Annisaa Foundation helps bridge this gap by empowering and encouraging the youth especially young women to attain higher education. Through modest sponsorship, donations, guidance, counseling and mentoring, we inspire pupils and students to attain higher education in various professional fields. We have showcased the value of education by sharing our personal humble beginnings and challenging paths to success. We hope our endeavours will nurture our youth into responsible citizens who will contribute to national development. Beneficiaries of this programme include the following schools:
- Suhum Islamic Girls’ Senior High School
- Madina Islamic Primary and Junior High School
- Al-Walid Islamic Primary and Junior Secondary School, Ruga
- Nuru Mustafya Islamic School, Ashaiman
- Aburi Girls’ Senior High School
Outreach Programmes
We live in a society where certain individuals are marginalized due to the unfortunate circumstances in which they find themselves. To show that there are people out there who still care about them, Annisaa Foundation has, since 2014, been visiting this prison at least twice a year. They are always touched to see us and appreciate the counseling they get from renowned Islamic scholars, the efforts we make to facilitate their reformation, encourage their education and prepare them to rejoin society as law-abiding citizens. They relish the food, books, medication, clothing and other items that we mobilize for them through our individual contributions and various sponsors.
Knowing the care that juveniles require, we extended our outreach programme to the former Borstal Institute.
Islam regards orphans as belonging to one of the most vulnerable groups. For this reason, we identified Mercy Islamic School, Ashaley-Botwe, as a beneficiary of our modest activities. Annisaa Foundation has visited this orphanage number of times to donate cash and assorted items, counsel and mentor the orphans.
We are also friends of the Weija Leprosarium. We have visited them on a number of occasions to give them hope and show that their fellow citizens have not forgotten about them. The Leprosarium received clothing, mats and food items on various occasions. We honoured their invitation to one of their carol nights.
